Virgin Atlantic: Best. Airline. Ever.

Guten Tag, everyone

Of course leaving Dayton was a drag, get to the airport at 8 a.m. to pick up the rental car. Not to mention the 5 hour drive from Dayton to Chicago, it was a nightmare. But once I sat I my economy class seat on Virgin Atlantic flight 40 to London, all of the stresses of the day’s journey disappeared.

For those of you who have never flown Virgin Atlantic, it’s a British airline owned by billionaire playboy Richard Branson.

Anyway, riding in economy class is like riding in first class. Minus the leather seats, legroom, china, silver wear and foot rests. Okay, it’s not exactly first class, but they do treat you well. There were movies (more than I could count) with a remote control, FREE drinks, and more food than I could eat. Oh yeah, all the employees had British accents of course. The really cool British accents, the kind you can actually understand — as if they were on the BBC. Yep, it was pretty f**king cool. The experience gave me a different perspective on British style and culture. I must admit, I did find it a bit ironic that all of the airline crew wore red coats. But I guess that's the historian in me.

Then I landed in London…

You know, it’s weird, being in London I found that very few people actually speak English — at least not English as I recognize it to be. But that’s a whole different story for another time.

Until next time, Auf Wiedersehen
